Clinical background in schools,
private practice & home health

I built this because it didn't exist.

I'm a working SLPA with hands-on clinical experience across school, private practice, and home health settings. At some point I realized that every question I had as an SLPA — about pay structures, about whether a job offer was fair, about navigating a virtual supervisor, about what I was actually allowed to do in certain states — had nowhere good to go.

SLP resources exist everywhere. Parent resources exist. But peer resources written specifically for SLPAs, by SLPAs, that don't talk down to you or bury the lead? Not really.

So I built it. The SLPA Playbook is that resource. It's written the way I wish someone had talked to me when I was starting out.

Everything here is free information, paid tools, and no gatekeeping. Because the field already has enough of that.

What this site is NOT

Before you go further, here's what to keep in mind:

  • This is not clinical advice. Nothing here should replace guidance from your supervising SLP or your state licensing board.
  • This is not legal advice. If you have questions about employment law, consult a professional.
  • This is not an official ASHA or state board resource. Always verify scope of practice questions with your actual board.
  • This is not for SLPs, and it's not for people who plan to transition to SLP. It's specifically for SLPAs who are building a career in this field.
  • This is not a career counseling service. The information here is peer experience — your mileage may vary.
When in doubt about your specific scope of practice: go to your supervising SLP, then your state board. Those are the only two sources that actually matter for your license.
